What is Philodendron lupinum?

Philodendron lupinum is a rare species native to Brazil that captures attention with its morphing leaves.

As a juvenile, it has velvety, heart-shaped foliage with rich green tones and a reddish underside.

As it climbs and matures, the leaves become larger, deeply lobed, and textured — a true visual evolution.

It’s a collector’s dream with two personalities in one plant.

Why grow Philodendron lupinum?

Velvet textures, dynamic growth, and rare status — this plant has it all.

Whether you’re after soft-leaved beauty or dramatic lobed structure, Philodendron lupinum delivers both in one timeline.

How do you care for Philodendron lupinum?

• Light: Bright, indirect light for vibrant color and steady growth
• Water: Water when the top 1–2 inches feel dry; don’t let it sit wet
• Humidity: Thrives in 60%+ humidity but tolerates average indoor air
• Soil: Well-draining aroid mix with bark, perlite, and coco chips
• Support: Loves to climb — add a moss pole for faster leaf size progression
• Fertilizer: Feed monthly with balanced liquid fertilizer during spring/summer

Pro tip: Let it climb and mature — the leaf transformation is worth the wait.
