The Hoya ischnopus plant was obtained as a “NOID Came as Montana” from SRQ Hoyas in 2012. Through research, it was determined that the plant is ischnopus, which is native to New Guinea and is an easy grower.

The plant will not bloom under warm conditions or under lights. It was discovered that the plant needs cool weather to set buds and can be bloomed by placing it outdoors during the summer, which resulted in blooming after eight weeks. The flowers on this plant are similar to those found on H. kenejiana, but the leaves and habits are different.
